Paul Friedrich Frick

Paul Friedrich Frick was born in Berlin, Germany in 1979. In 1991 Il-Ryun
Chang became his first composition teacher. From 2000 to 2006 he studied
composition at Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) with Friedrich Goldmann.
From 2006 to 2008 he continued as a „Meisterschüler". His work consists
mainly of chamber music, music for theatre and radio-plays as well as two
orchestra pieces and a short opera. His pieces have been performed amongst
others by the Concertgebouw orchestra Amsterdam, the ensemble adapter,
the ensemble Est!EstEst!, the ensemble Kaleidoskop and the ensemble
Kwartludium. Paul Friedrich Frick is also active as a pianist/keyboarder and
as a producer/live-performer of electronic dance music. He has released
amongst others on the labels Kalk Pets, Doppelschall, The Gym and –
with his acoustic techno project „Brandt Brauer Frick“ - on Tartelet Records
and !K7 Records. In a club context he has perfomed on well-known stages
like Berghain (Berlin), Flex (Vienna), Trouw (Amsterdam), Mutek Festival
(Montreal) or Distortion Festival (Copenhagen). In 2009/10 he got a
NaFöG scholarship from the federal state Berlin.
